The Ring ver 2.0 : Infinite Elements (광주비엔날레 미니폴리) , 미디어 아트 (신수경 작가) 협업

Infinite Elements는 과거, 현재, 미래로 무한반복하는 시간 안의 거대 생명체를 표현한 조형물이다. 무한궤도 형태의 철제 프레임은 물리적 ‧ 환경적인 무한요소인 시간(Time) 을 표현하며, 그 궤도 사이에 연결된 LED줄들은 생물학적 ‧ 객체적 무한요소인 유전자(DNA)의 이중나선구조 형태로 완성되어 무한 반복 환경 속에서 발전을 거듭하는 생물을 표현한다.

하드웨어로써 건축조형물과 소프트웨어로써 미디어아트가 결합되어 완성된 이 작품은 몸(하드웨어)에 영혼(소프트웨어)이 깃들어 비로소 탄생되는 하나의 생명체와 같다. Infinite Elements는 무한고리형태의 궤도를 따라 둘러쳐진 LED strips에 영상이 보여지도록 설계되어, 평면과 직선 형태를 탈피한 유선형의 거대 영상체를 구현하였다. 이 미니폴리는 건축물에 미디어가 결합되어 새로운 형태로 발전 될 수 있는 방향을 제시하며 도심속에 살아있는 하나의 생명체로서 도시민들과 어우러져 그들을 대변한다.

Infinite Elements is a sculpture that expresses a giant creature in time that infinitely repeats past, present, and future. The iron frame in the form of an endless orbit expresses Time, which is an infinite physical and environmental element, and the LED lines connected between the orbits are completed in the form of a double helix structure of DNA, a biological and object infinite element, and are infinite. It represents a living organism that continues to develop in a repeating environment.

This work, completed by combining an architectural sculpture as hardware and media art as software, is like a living organism that is finally born when the soul (software) resides in the body (hardware). Infinite Elements is designed to show images on LED strips surrounded by an infinite loop-shaped orbit, realizing a streamlined giant image body that breaks away from flat and straight lines. This mini-poly suggests a direction in which media can be combined with a building to develop into a new form, and as a living organism in the city, harmonizes with the city dwellers and represents them.
