한국외국어대학교 글로벌캠퍼스는 2km 에 달하는 외대로를 따라 길게 뻗어 있는 지리적 특성을 가지고 있다. 학생들과 교직원들은 주로 버스 혹은 차량을 통해 외대로를 따라 학교로 진입하고 보행 동선은 많지 않다. 그렇다보니, 한국외국어대학교의 정문은 통과동선으로 지나치는 공간으로 그 존재감이 부족하고 오래되고 낙후된 상태로 방치되어 왔다.

한국외국어대학교 글로벌캠퍼스의 정문을 동적인 동선이 만들어내는 공간적 특성을 고려하여 지나치면서도 모두가 인지하는 공간으로 만들어준다. 또한, 기존 정문의 재료와 형태를 유지하여 그 정체성과 상징성 살리면서, 새로운 재료와 빛의 열주를 통해 보다 미래지향적인 한국외국어대학교의 새로운 비전을 보여줄 수 있는 정문이 되도록 한다.

Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Global Campus has a geographical feature that extends along a 2km long outer highway. Students and faculty mainly enter the school along the outer street by bus or vehicle, and there are not many pedestrian traffic lines. Therefore, the main gate of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies is a space that passes through the passageway, lacks its presence, and has been left in an old and outdated state.
The main gate of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Global Campus is made into a space that everyone perceives while passing by taking into account the spatial characteristics created by the dynamic movement. In addition, while maintaining the material and shape of the existing front door, its identity and symbolism will be preserved, while making it a front door that can show a new vision of a more future-oriented Hankuk University of Foreign Studies through a colony of new materials and lights.
